We recently welcomed a new member to our team with a work experience placement. Here’s how they got on during their time with us…

My work experience at EcoStar Double Glazing has honestly been such an amazing, inspiring, and unforgettable week. I feel incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity, and I have learned so much in such a brief time. From the very first day, I was made to feel welcome and included, which helped calm my nerves straight away. I was not sure what to expect at first, but everyone in the office was so friendly and approachable that I quickly started to feel comfortable and confident.

On my first day, I was given the task of creating Instagram designs using quotes and fun facts to help promote the company. This was a creative and enjoyable way to get started, and I loved that I got to work on something visual and fun right away. I also created a few TikToks for the company’s page, and it was exciting to be trusted with that level of responsibility from the beginning. It made me feel like the team believed in me and were genuinely interested in seeing what I could do. It was clear straight away that EcoStar values fresh ideas and encourages creativity, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

As the week went on, I got to explore more sides of the business. On my second day, I continued working on social media content, but this time for the Window Doctor side of the company. I also spent time researching small charities, which helped me learn about how businesses can get involved with community support and social responsibility. That was something I had not really thought about before, and it showed me a new side of what companies like EcoStar can do to give back.

One thing that stood out to me was how the team regularly checked in to make sure I was doing okay. I had a little meeting during the week where I was asked how I was getting on, if I needed any help, and if I felt I had enough to do. That might seem like a small thing, but it really made me feel like my opinion mattered and that the team genuinely cared about my experience—not just giving me tasks but making sure I was learning and growing too.

I also got to help make care packages for customers, which was a nice firsthand activity that showed me the customer service and appreciation side of the business. I helped organise a photo album full of before-and-after shots from previous jobs, which gave me a real look at the quality of the work EcoStar does. On Thursday, I also spent time looking up companies based in Sydney, which gave me even more insight into how market research is done and why it is so important in a marketing role.

One of the most exciting things planned for me is going out on my last day to visit a real installation and take photos of the work being done. I am really looking forward to seeing the team in action and getting the chance to capture content for the company’s social media. It is amazing how many different skills and areas I have been able to explore just within one week.

Over the course of the week, I have learned what it is like to be in a real working office and how distinct roles work together to keep things running smoothly. I have seen how important teamwork, communication, and time management are in a professional setting. I have also realised how much I am capable of when I push myself. Before this, I did not think I could do things on my own without asking for help all the time—but being at EcoStar has shown me that I can be more independent, solve problems on my own, and trust myself to get things done.

Being part of the marketing team has been especially eye-opening. It has made me really think about what I want to do in the future. Seeing how much effort goes into planning, designing, promoting, and communicating with customers has made me respect the role of marketing a lot more. It has also inspired me to try harder at school and even think seriously about going to university one day to pursue a career I am enthusiastic about. Seeing how motivated, professional, and enthusiastic the people at EcoStar has been incredibly inspiring, and it has made me excited about what lies ahead in my own career.

Even though I was only here for one week, I never felt like “just the work experience student.” I felt like I was part of the team, and I was included in real projects that mattered. That meant a lot to me, and it is something I will always remember. I am so grateful for the kindness, support, and guidance I received throughout the week. Thank you to everyone at EcoStar for giving me such a meaningful and enjoyable experience. I have learned so much more than I expected, and this week has given me confidence, motivation, and a clearer idea of what I want to do in the future.
