What To Look For In A Window Company

The average homeowner shouldn’t be thinking about their windows very often. Unless you work in the industry, you’ll only need to consider your windows when replacing or upgrading them. When that happens, choosing the right company can be a little intimidating. They’ll be making a big structural change to your home, so you’ll have to be able to rely on the people you hire.

So with that in mind, we thought we’d put together a handy guide on what to look for in a decent window company. Hopefully, this will lead you right back to Ecostar, but if it doesn’t (perhaps you live too far away), at least we can help you make the right decision.

Reputation

Start by looking at the company’s reputation. Look up reviews online and check out their social media pages. Are there glowing reports on their work and expertise, or have they got lots of dismal feedback?  Generally speaking, customers are more likely to leave bad reviews than positive ones, so if a company only has one or two negative reviews, it’s not much to worry about. However, if they’ve got pages upon pages of them, it’s probably best to stay away.

It’s also worth looking into their reputation among their peers as well. One way to research this is to find out if they’ve received any industry awards in the past. If a company receives a prestigious award, it means they’re held in high regard. If they’ve got nothing to show off on their website, tread carefully.

Accreditations

Accreditations are a good indicator of how reliable a company is. Membership of organisations like the Australian Glass And Window Association or the Victorian Building Authority demonstrates that a business is held to a high standard of professionalism. It’s also a good sign that a business is financially stable; they usually have to be vetted before joining. This means that if you need to cash in on a guarantee or get some repairs done a few years after installation, there’s a good chance the company will still be in operation, and you won’t be left with the bill.

It’s worth noting that before they can apply for accreditations, businesses usually have to be in operation for several years. If you discover a new window installation business who have no accreditations, don’t panic. It may just be that they haven’t been around long enough to get one.

Product And Installation Guarantees

It’s also worth looking at what type of guarantees a company is willing to provide. This is a good giveaway as to how reliable their products are. If a company is happy to issue guarantees of ten years or more to every customer they serve, that’s a good sign. It means they’ve got faith that their windows won’t need replacing in the immediate future and potentially cost the business money. If a window company isn’t prepared to offer long-lasting guarantees, run for the hills.

Keep all of these points in mind when shopping for windows, and you’re bound to choose a good window installation company. We’re willing to bet though, that you won’t find a better one in Dandenong and Victoria than Ecostar.
